Experience
Galore
There’s
nothing quite like an adventurous, wildly varied
and somewhat long life to inform one’s creativity
and fluency with people. There is also a difference
between a copywriter who can make a living stringing
sentences together, and a writer who couldn’t
do anything else but write. Put these elements
together and big things can happen.
I wrote a story that became a book, that then became
a major motion picture. Then I worked on the film
crew during the shooting of that movie. I wrote
for the Boston Phoenix Style section. I was a single
mother, which may sound common, but is nonetheless
an education in behavior. Jodie Foster asked me
to contribute copy to her cook book. My work on
the Rolling Stones Tour in 1990 took me to twenty-six
European cities in just four months.
My urge to communicate has attracted some interesting
situations to me, and given me plenty to say. It’s
fluency. Read all about some real-life situations
peppered with fiction and played for laughs.
